WHAT IS AND IS NOT ALLOWED IN THE DUMPSTER?

NOT ALLOWED

  1. Any appliance.

  2. Used oil.

  3. White goods. (appliances)

  4. Antifreeze (ethylene glycol).

  5. Aluminum cans.

  6. Whole scrap tires, as provided in G.S. 130A-309.58(b).

  7. Lead-acid batteries, as provided in G.S. 130A-309.70.

  8. Beverage containers that are required to be recycled under G.S. 18B-1006.1.

  9. Motor vehicle oil filters.

  10. Recyclable rigid plastic containers that are required to be labeled as provided BELOW, that have a neck smaller than the body of the container, and that accept a screw top, snap cap, or other closure.

    • (a) For polyethylene terephthalate, the letters "PETE" and the number 1.

    • (b) For high density polyethylene, the letters "HDPE" and the number 2.

    • (c) For vinyl, the letter "V" and the number 3.

    • (d) For low density polyethylene, the letters "LDPE" and the number 4.

    • (e) For polypropylene, the letters "PP" and the number 5.

    • (f) For polystyrene, the letters "PS" and the number 6.

    • (g) For any other, the letters "OTHER" and the number 7.

  11. Wooden pallets, except wooden pallets (mixed into construction waste) may be disposed in a construction debris container.

  12. Oyster shells.

  13. Discarded computer equipment (includes laptops, desktops, monitors, video displays, printers, scanners, and printer-scanner-fax combos.

  14. Discarded televisions.

  15. Fluorescent lights and thermostats that contain mercury are banned.

1.  Transfer Station / Municipal Solid Waste (MSW)

 Waste generated from residential, commercial, and institutional non-hazardous solid wastes and designated solid wastes.

(Ex.  Household trash, furniture, clothing, toys, etc….)

 

2.  Construction and Demolition (C&D) 

Any waste generated from construction, remodeling, repair or demolition operations on pavement, building, or other structures.

(Ex. Wood, shingles, concrete, brick, siding, drywall,  plumbing, pipes, etc…)

 

3.  Land Clearing and Inert Debris (LCID) - waste generated through land clearing activities.

(Ex. Stumps, trees, limbs, and leaves, brush, grass clippings and other naturally occurring vegetative matter.)
